Yes, we have Jesus in us....so where are all the miracles? Or are we just not telling of them?
This very unique person and special in so many ways....yes it is Allison Restagno....the author I am speaking of. In her book she tells us of 50 true stories of real-life, firsthand modern-day miracles....
We do know that the supernatirual way of so many others will reveal so many stories of miracles. Allison, however, has shared these 50 modern day miracles and as she tells us of the miracles; she also informs us about the contributor. Wow!
This Destiny Image published book is just excellent.
Oh, I should tell you that Allison Restagno is a music teacher and song writer......so she tells us of her testimonies and experiences of life of modern-day miracles.
All of us Christians, I bleieve, have our firsthand stories to tell, but read these 50 stories and cry, be full of Joy, and learn just how our Lord has worked and is working today. Love it! Read it! Learn from it! It is excellent!

I've come to realize even more, people are not as intelligent as they think. That God works in ways that knowledge can't comprehend. If we release our human understanding and rely more on faith. Perhaps we can see more miracles.

About the Author
Beaufort B. Longest, Jr., is the M. Allen Pond Professor and Director of the Health Policy Institute in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Longest holds a Ph.D. from Georgia State University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds memberships in the Academy of Management, AcademyHealth, American Public Health Association, and the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management. He is an elected member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society in Business as well as of the Delta Omega Honor Society in Public Health. His research has led to numerous peer-reviewed articles published in respected national and international journals. He has authored or co-authored 10 books and 30 chapters. Professor Longest’s current research and scholarship address corporate citizenship, policy making, and governance and management in health settings. His work in these areas has underpinned his most recent books, Managing Health Programs and Projects and Health Policymaking in the United States. Longest consults with health care organizations and systems, universities, associations, and government agencies on health policy and management

Kurt Darr is Professor of Hospital Administration in the Department of Health Services Management and Leadership and Professor of Health Care Sciences at The George Washington University. He holds the Doctor of Science from The Johns Hopkins University and the Master of Hospital Administration and Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Darr completed his administrative residency at Rochester (Minnesota) Methodist Hospital and subsequently worked as an administrative associate at the Mayo Clinic. After being commissioned in the U.S. Navy, he served in administrative and educational assignments at St. Albans Naval Hospital and Bethesda Naval Hospital. He completed postdoctoral fellowships with the Department of Health and Human Services, the World Health Organization, and the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services Administration. Dr. Darr is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the District of Columbia and Minnesota Bars, and serves as a mediator in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He serves on commissions and committees for various professional organizations, including The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. He is a voluntary consultant to several hospitals in the District of Columbia metropolitan area. Dr. Darr regularly presents seminars on health services ethics, hospital organization and management, quality improvement, and the application of the Deming method in health services. He is the author and editor of several books used in graduate health services administration programs and numerous articles on health services topics.

This book redefines the term "comprehensive". It is thick, dense, and full of a lot of great information on health service organizations and health systems. Probably not the best choice for an introductory 500-level course, but good as a reference nonetheless.

Great book for the novice stargazer!

I love this book! It totally Fisher-Priced the world of astronomy for me. My husband has always been interested in the stars and constellations and I got him this book for Christmas to give him a refresher. I am reading the book to help along with the star gazing. The book has a glossary as well as tips for the equipment you may want to purchase. The author makes it an easy read that if I can follow, anyone can. Someday we hope to have grandkids and it would be awesome to share the stars with them.

diverse applications

A good textbook on the subject of artificial intelligence. Directed to a student new to the field. The chapters contain exercises to aid in understanding the various concepts.

Padhy shows that AI applications are now quite diverse. From robotics, which was the original motivation, to pure software. Where the latter might be for financial applications, or chemical synthesis. However, the book fails to convey that the formal logic approach to AI seems to have run into diminishing returns, as far as actually understanding or implementing a breakthrough AI system. [Which is part of the allure of alternatives like neural nets.]

For a text of over 600 pages, the book is remarkably cheaply priced. Excellent value for a student on a budget.

There is no such thing as too much good food

I lived in Northwest Ohio for 15 years and enjoyed a great variety of food, but never considered the varied traditions and history that converged to create it. This deliciously researched book walks one through the earliest influences of Native Americans, Johnny Appleseed, immigrants, and finally commercial production. The Great Black Swamp is no longer a swamp, but rather a rich agricultural area that produces an amazing bounty of cuisine that is both humble and complex. Delightfully many recipes are included and the challenge is figuring out which one to make first. I think I will try the Pita-Wurst, a tasty looking combination of all that is good about this lovely, hill-challenged corner of heaven

Try the recipes, they're worth it!

I grew up in the Black Swamp and live there still. It was fascinating to read affirmation of my family's recipe heritage. For example, home made potato soup, a comfort recipe, passed from my grandmother, to my mother, to me, and next my girls. Not to mention the beef and noodles over mashed potatoes that my mother had served me the night before I read about it in the book! Who knew we were part of such a culinary history! This book was well done and it was fun to read of names and places (as well as recipes) of which I'm familiar. So glad this history is recorded for future generations! Also enjoyed learning about the early Native American history of the black swamp.

(3.5 stars) As readers of Camilla Lackberg's previous novel, The Ice Princess, have discovered, Fjallbacka, Sweden, a small fishing village in western Sweden, holds many secrets, some of them involving murder. Chief Investigator Patrik Englund is enjoying a much-needed vacation when he learns that a six-year-old has discovered a woman's naked and beaten body near a ravine. Underneath that body are the skeletons of two more women who disappeared in 1979. Autopsies prove that all three had been slowly tortured over the course of many days before merciful death interceded. Through flashbacks to 1979, when the first deaths occurred, the story develops into a murderous saga which may involve the Hult family, whose family patriarch, Ephraim Hult, was a highly successful evangelical preacher, and whose two sons Johannes and Gabriel had supernatural healing powers when they were children. Ephraim is now dead, and his sons are enemies as a result of Ephraim's will.

The author spends as much time on the lives and motivations of her characters as she does on plot development, and when yet another young girl disappears from town, Patrik and his crew (which also has their own frictions and rivalries) realize they may have a chance to find her before she dies of the same tortures which were inflicted on the previous young women. Dozens of complications, which are revealed through the family backgrounds, psychology, and interactions of the police officers, the victims, and the various members of the Hult family keep the tension high as Lackberg involves the whole community in a wide assortment of clues and red herrings.

Although the dialogue is often wooden and clichéd, the author's emphasis on characters and why they behave as they do give a depth to this novel that straight action-mysteries do not usually have. Flashbacks in italics inserted throughout the present day action reveal the thoughts of an imprisoned female victim from 1979, held in a cold dark place, as she tries to cope with another day of torture. Blackmail, revenge, an obsession with power, seething resentments spawned by injustice, and love and passion are all motivating forces which one sees here through the various characters. There are, however, many implausibilities in the plot. A number of characters, some of them repeating, add little to the story line except diversion. Erika's sister's problems, a big part of The Ice Princess, for example, continue here as a distraction, and the late addition of the character of Kennedy Karlsson, with his unusual background, seems to be a convenient way out of a messy plot issue.

It is easy, however, to see why Camilla Lackberg is the best selling author in Swedish history, outselling even Stieg Larsson in number of books sold: She has written nine #1 sellers in Sweden, good escape novels (of which the Ice Princess is #1 and this is #2) that keep the reader entertained, involved in the action, and willingly "suspending disbelief" throughout. Two more of her pop novels are already being translated for the US market (by Steven T. Murray, translator of the Stieg Larsson books and those by Henning Mankell), and one would hope that her later novels will show her increasing growth as a novelist. Mary Whipple

Not a bad read, but it rambled on in lots of places, which detract from its credibility. I'll read the next book, though, simply to see the loose ends tied up. Patrick and Erica are interesting characters.

Long-winded and not as engaging as "The Ice Princess"

"The Preacher" is Swedish author Camilla Lackberg's second police procedural mystery, and I have to say that I preferred her first, "The Ice Princess". In this follow-up novel,also set in the Swedish coastal town of Fjallbacka, a female German tourist's body is found atop two skeletons which turn out to be the remains of two young women who went missing in 1979. Patrik Hedstrom, the policeman who helped crack the murder case in "The Ice Princess" returns in this second novel with a much more prominent role. He is now married to Erica, the author from the first novel who played a major role in solving the murder in "The Ice Princess". Though it isn't necessary to read "The Ice Princess" before this second novel, there is quite a bit of background information provided in the first novel about some of the recurring characters such as Erica, Patrik, and Erica's sister Anna. Patrik is put in charge of the investigation, and as the investigators dig deeper, they find that all clues point to the Hult family, comprising patriarch Gabriel, his wife Liane, children Linda and Jacob, and also Gabriel's estranged nephews Robert and Stefan and their mother Solveig. When another young girl goes missing, Patrik and his team find themselves racing against the clock to locate the girl, even as they find themselves faced with dead ends and false clues.

"The Preacher" is quite weak in comparison to "The Ice Princess" - firstly, I was disappointed that Erica does not play a major role in this investigation. Instead she is relegated to playing the expectant mom and wife who has to deal with pesky relatives invading her home during the hot summer months. In "The Ice Princess", Erica played a very important role in the murder investigation and I had come to genuinely like her character so it was underwhelming to see her character take a backseat to Patrik's role as chief investigator in this second installment. Though Patrik is a likable enough character, he lacks the charisma of other major characters in series such as Inspector Sejer in Karin Fossum's novels which are far superior than Ms. Lackberg's novels (the quality of writing, characterization, etc). The story itself could have benefited from better editing, it tends to plod at many points in the novel, and some story arcs could have been omitted. One in particular is the story about Anna, Erica's sister - her domestic problems continue in this second novel, but prove to be more of a distraction and annoyance than an engaging story arc. Final verdict - "The Preacher" is not as engaging as "The Ice Princess", and there are other Scandinavian mystery authors whose works I find more interesting, such as Karin Fossum, Johan Theorin, Arnaldur Indridasson, Henning Mankell, Steig Larssen, etc.
