Great book for new vegans

I have slowly become a vegan after discovering the health benefits from eating raw and drinking fresh juices. This book is great! I love to research and decide why i am eating or drinking what I am and how it can help improve my health. this book looks simple and the recipes are easy to follow. You won't feel like it is a hard life to live. I love this book!

Something's Lost in Translation

I am not sure how this book received good reviews in some publications. Yes, the illustrations are cute and the information is sound. The humor (provided by cats in the sidebars) is terrible, even by little kid standards. There is a spelling error in the endpages and sometimes turns of phrases led me to believe the translation was off (this is by a well-known Slovenian author and was translated to English) There are better books out there, I'd pass on this one.

I did NOT care for "Doggy Why's" by Lila Prap. I pricked it up at our local library. I got it, because I was liking the art work. But when I got to the page :"Why Are Some Dogs More Obedient That Others?"... I had to take a second look at what the authors idea of "Funny" was. I am all for, jokingly, never ending "Cat vs. Dog" debate. But I think this took it too far. Some of the "answers" were; "Because they are BEATEN"... "Because They Are STUPID"???? Is this what we are teaching our children now a days? That it is OK to BEAT a Dog...or any animal?. .We were going to buy the book..but now. Nope. Dont think so.

Prap, as always, focuses on information which is great interest to young children and draws illustrations that are just as child-friendly.

I did think their reunion kind of came out of nowhere and in an unnecessary spot lol. It made me think of how that really would have played out in real life, and all I did was giggle. Any who, the way it ended left me wondering if there was going to be another part to this series. I'm hoping it is and Ms. Beckton ties it up and finishes it nicely.

Pretty weak

Part two if this story was pretty weak and short. David's girlfriend is in a coma, not sitting at home being cheated on. What a let down. Shannon was kind if pathetic in my opinion and naive for bring 40. The ending was pretty lame as well. Overall disappointing it took me less then an hour to read.

A wonderful comprehensive guide to computer 2D & 3D

This book is great. I have authored a few 3D engines in my day (Dave's 3D Engine for instance), and this book has been a lifesaver. It is not only a great introductory text on the principles of 2D and 3D graphics (complex and simple), but it is an invaluable reference book. It's chapters have succint coverage of just about every major facet of 3D: transformations, shading, everything. It also has some chapters on some of the more arcane stuff too - which is a great read once you springboard off the introductory stuff. Four stars.

A different kind of image processing book

This book, based on the premise that computer graphics, computer vision, and image processing are merging into a single discipline, is very unique and interesting because it deals with so many different arcane image processing subjects. My main complaint against the book is that there could have been more algorithms and equations shown considering the mathematical nature of all of the subjects mentioned. However, the CD has the executable and source code for many good programs, which somewhat makes up for this. The tremendous amount of information contained in the book makes it a great reference for someone who already understands basic image processing, computer vision, and computer graphics and just wants to pick up more tricks for the purpose of multimedia programming. For example, it is the only book that I know of that deals with the algorithms for morphing images. It is not a book to be read cover to cover- you'll find yourself skipping around quite a bit. The book's table of contents is as follows:

2. Representation and modelling of three-dimensional objects.
3. Basic realism - lighting polygon objects.

About the Author
After pursuing a degree in theoretical physics from Cambridge University, Ajahn Brahm, born in London as Peter Betts, headed off to a forest monastery in Thailand, where he studied under the famed meditation master Ajahn Chah for nine years starting in the mid 1970s. it is often funny, and sometimes ridiculous

From the mind of a Buddhist monk. It is an alternate way to look at the world around you. Told in 108 short stories, it is often funny, and sometimes ridiculous. I recommend for anyone looking for a quick read to lighten the mood.

A Fun, Joyous & Heart-Changing Ride!!!

Such a beautiful book, and such a joyous spirit!

Full Disclosure: I recently interviewed Ajahn Brahm for our Inspire Nation Show...I think he broke the laughter-per-minute quota!!!

What an amazing soul, and he shares fantastic story after story after story to help us 'get it'...and it's hard not to after reading his book. It's a treatise for life, wrapped up in short, bite-size, entertaining stories. Each one is it's own fortune cookie telling it's own tale, and it's own lesson.

It's hard not to get sucked into the stories, and then reflect them back to our own lives...which is exactly the point. He helps us realize the grandeur, the beauty, the silliness, the ease, and the difficulty that is all around us, and helps us learn how to let it all go, and to simply be in the moment.

In that sense, Don't Worry, Be Grumpy is a very powerful tool, wrapped up with a smile.
